This workshop is at an introductory level. It is ideal for people who have never tried glass fusing. If you already have some experience, you'll be able to create a more intricate design.
I'll introduce you to the process of cutting sheet glass by scoring and breaking. Using these skills, you'll create a hanging decoration from clear glass with a snowflake, star or Christmas tree design.
You will then move on to create a further 2-3 decorations, with the option to incorporate some coloured glass, frit (crushed glass), stringers (long strands of glass), pre-formed glass dots and enamel paints. Example designs will include Angels, Santas, Reindeer, Gnomes, Mistletoe, Penguins and Baubles - or you could invent a fresh design of your own!
Making your projects will probably take between 1½ and 2 hours, depending on how ambitious and dexterous you are. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided (vegan biscuits and oat milk will be available).
After the workshop, your pieces of art will be taken back to my studio for firing. Within about a week, it will be ready for collection or delivery. I can post your art to you for a small extra fee. The typical group size is 4-5. The maximum group size is 8 and the course will only run if there are at least 3 bookings. It’s fine to book a place on this workshop for well-behaved children aged 9+ as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult.
This workshop will be held at Broome Village Hall, DY9 0HA. This offers a light and airy space, with plenty of room to spread out if needed. There is wheelchair access and the adjacent car park has plenty of space for the size of group. Broome is a beautiful little village near to the Clent Hills in Worcestershire, with lots of countryside walks and pubs if you are planning to include the workshop as part of a full day out.
In addition to my scheduled workshops, I am always happy to run workshops for a group of friends. This could be at Broome Village Hall or in your own home. Please get in touch.
